ReTargeter is proud to announce that it has been chosen as a HOT TECH DEMO winner at the Fifth Annual Small Business Summit, where only 7 winners have been chosen from over 70 entries. The Fifth Annual Small Business Summit took place on Tuesday March 2nd 2010 at the Digital Sandbox in New York. Over 400 businesses gathered to take part in the Summit. The event focused on “Strategies for the New Economy”. Here is a picture of our CEO accepting the award on behalf of ReTargeter:

This is an old interview our CEO did at the Twiistup Conference in Los Angeles. Talking about the solution and the company!
Setting up your own tracking links via Google Analytics gives you a way to track your banners’ clicks from your end, as well as any incoming traffic from any link you put out on the internet. This is very important as it gives you data that you can use to justify the resource costs that you’re spending on all of the marketing channels that you’re utilizing.
To set up a link, you need to figure a few things out first:
- Source name - The source of the visitor (we’ll use ’source’ in this case).
- Campaign name - What will you name the campaign on your end? Let’s calls this ‘campaign1.’
- Medium name - Simply just the name of the medium source. This can simply be titled ‘banner.’
Once you have these names all figured out, you can create the tracking code. You can follow my instructions below, or use Google’s URL Builder, located here. Note that this link explains adding another tracker named ‘content,’ which may help in differentiating ads, but I left it out in our case to make the tracker smaller.
The format of the tracking code is as follows:
?utm_source=SOURCENAME&utm_medium=MEDIUMNAME&utm_campaign=CAMPAIGNNAME
So, your tracking code will look like:
?utm_source=source&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=campaign1
So, the way this works is that you attach the tracker to the end of the landing page you want your banners to link to. Let’s say you want this campaign to link straight to your homepage.
The tracked link to your homepage using the tracker in the previous example would be:
http://www.yourhomepage.com/?utm_source=source&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=campaign1
Get it? All we did was add the tracker to the end of your homepage’s link. If you wanted to link the banners to a special landing page, you still just have to add the tracker at the end of the link.
http://www.yourhomepage.com/landing_page.html?utm_source=source&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=campaign1
Now, let’s say you’ve sent us the tracked links that you want the banners to direct traffic to. Once one user clicks it, Google Analytics will automatically create the campaign within its platform, and you will be able to start viewing the tracked ReTargeter traffic going to your site.Once you’ve aggregated a bunch of data, you can go into Google Analytics, and check your “Traffic Source.” After clicking Traffic Source, a break down of traffic sources will show up on the left. If you click campaign, you’ll see a traffic report coming from “campaign1.” Within that metric spreadsheet that gets displayed, you can change the “campaign” field to “source,” or “medium,” and see the data.
Great, you’re all set. I know, this is a very lengthy lesson, but definitely a good thing for any business to know, as it gives you a vast amount of data that helps you evaluate each marketing channel that you use.
We are proud to announce today our latest product — Fan ReTargeting!

Here is how it works:
Step 1: Visitor comes to your website
Step 2: Cookie is dropped on the users browser (We provide you with the code for your site).
Step 3: Visitor hits websites within our network (one of the largest) and sees your fan page banner ad (like the one above)
Step 4: They click on the ad unit and become a fan immediately (if they are signed into Facebook)
More Fans means more people will be aware of the products / events your business markets through your Facebook!

Food for thought: From a recent conference: Did you know, the Victoria Secret’s PINK brand gets 25% of sales directly from their Facebook fan page?

We have recently implemented view-through and click-through conversion tracking for our clients. This means we now know exactly how many people bought something (or completed a lead form) because they clicked on or saw a ReTargeted ad.
One of our clients, a company that sells dog food and other pet related products online, recently implemented our new conversion tracking system.
We saw some interesting results for the sales ReTargeter helped generate:
- <10% of the sales came directly from clicks on the ads
- ~40% of the sales came within 48 hours of someone seeing an ad
- The remainder of the sales were generated by somone who had seen an ad more than 48 hours ago
We were also able to share with our clients which ads led to the most conversions.
PS: We can also track the total dollar value of the sales to see how that compares to other channels.

Since our inception we have been working diligently to increase brand awareness, brand credibility and most importantly revenue for our clients. Here are a couple examples:
Start-up X–
One of our clients is a amazing start-up which helps companies manage their social media presence more effectively. Startup X recently started a campaign with ReTargeter. Soon after the campaign started, the CEO received a call from a board member asking why they were spending money advertising on sites like Yahoo!, ESPN, and major newspapers. The board member had been seeing the ads everywhere on the web and was clearly concerned the company was wasting money. The CEO calmly explained that they were using ReTargeter and they all had a good laugh.
StickerJunkie–
StickerJunkie, a sticker company started by a well known entrepreneur, recently launched a ReTargeter campaign as a stand alone marketing test. What they noticed was truly awesome, not only was there an overall increase in brand awareness and conversions directly from the banners, there was also a general increase in conversions across the site including lifts in direct and search traffic. The most interesting result was an increase in high value orders. The big spenders were taking longer to decide on the purchase and were also visiting competitors sites. These particular folks eventually decided to purchase with StickerJunkie as they saw the ads everywhere.
